How OhmBit collects, uses, and protects your data across the website and browser agent.
Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how OhmBit ("we", "us") handles your data when you use the OhmBit website at ohmbit.com (the "Website") and the OhmBit Browser Agent Chrome extension (the "Extension").
The Extension runs inside your browser and automates web pages on your behalf using AI models you select. We are committed to collecting the minimum data needed to operate the service and being transparent about where that data goes.
Information We Collect
We separate data collected by the Website from data handled by the Extension so you can understand each context.
Website (ohmbit.com)
- Account information: username, display name, and email address you provide when registering.
- GitHub profile data: when you sign in with GitHub, we receive your GitHub username and the email addresses associated with your GitHub account. We request the minimum scopes needed to authenticate and do not access your repositories, issues, or other GitHub data.
- Authentication identifiers: session cookies and a hashed password (when applicable) used to keep you signed in.
- Usage metadata: aggregate API call counts and token counts used to display your dashboard.
Browser Agent Extension
- API keys: provider API keys (e.g., the OhmBit-managed key issued from your dashboard, or third-party keys such as Anthropic or OpenAI) are stored locally in the browser and used only to authenticate requests.
- Conversations and messages: your prompts, agent responses, and the model configuration you choose.
- Page content: when the agent runs on a tab, the Extension reads the DOM, page title, and URL of that tab to build a snapshot for the model. This snapshot is sent to the configured LLM provider as part of the prompt and is not stored on OhmBit servers.
- LLM call records: request and response payloads are kept in your local IndexedDB so you can review past interactions.
- Memories: notes the agent saves across sessions, when you have the memory feature enabled.
- Settings and preferences: theme, language, per-domain trust decisions, and feature toggles.
- Usage display data: when the OhmBit-managed provider is active, the Extension fetches remaining-credit and aggregate usage information from the OhmBit gateway to display in the side panel. This includes your display name.
How We Use Information
On the Website, we use account information to authenticate you, display your dashboard, and link the Browser Agent extension to your account.
In the Extension, we use the data listed above to execute agent tasks you request, display conversations, and show your remaining usage.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your conversations or page content to train models.
How Information Is Shared
LLM providers: when the agent runs, message content and page snapshots are sent to the LLM provider you have configured. If you use the OhmBit-managed provider, this traffic flows through the OhmBit gateway (ohmbit.com or ohmbit.cn) which forwards it to the underlying model provider. If you configure a third-party provider (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, or a self-hosted endpoint), traffic is sent directly to that provider.
GitHub: used only for sign-in. We do not share your OhmBit data with GitHub.
Infrastructure providers: the Website is hosted on Cloudflare Workers, which processes requests on our behalf.
We do not share your data with advertising networks or analytics vendors. The Extension contains no analytics, telemetry, or tracking SDKs.
Data Storage and Retention
Extension data (conversations, LLM call records, memories, settings, and API keys) is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB and chrome.storage.local. It persists until you delete it or uninstall the Extension.
When the OhmBit-managed provider is active, the OhmBit gateway retains only the aggregate token accounting needed to track your remaining credits. Prompt and response bodies are not persistently stored on OhmBit servers outside of normal request processing.
Website account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion by contacting us at the address below.
Your Choices
Extension: delete individual conversations from the side panel, use "Reset All Data" to clear everything stored locally, or remove your API keys from Settings at any time. Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored data.
Website: manage your profile, disconnect GitHub, or reset your API key from the dashboard. To delete your account and associated data, contact us at the address below.
Provider choice: you are free to use any supported LLM provider, including self-hosted endpoints, instead of the OhmBit-managed provider.
Children's Privacy
The Website and Extension are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
